#Fridayreads 30-10

Goodmorning!

I know it's already sunday but because of studying for my exams (starting tomorrow) I totally forgot to put up the friday reads tag!
Last week I haven't read the books I wanted to read, although we in The Netherlands are having holidays for a week I studied a lot for my exams at uni starting tomorrow. Out of the books I was going to read I only finished one, which was the picture book 'waiting for winter' by Sebastian Messenmoscher. oh how much I enjoyed that book!
This weekend and week I'll be reading the book 'Life and death' by Stephanie Meyer. I read 3 chapters so far so I already started the book haha. So far I'm enjoying it, I only still need to get used of the idea of Bella and Edward being swapped :O in my head the characters tend to be mixed up a bit.
I also want to make a start in the book 'Mees Kees - a naughty class' by Mirjam Oldenhave, I have a huge list for uni to read so I better start asap! :P

what have you read this weekend and what will you be reading during the week?
let me know :)

Review: Prisoner of night and fog by Anne Blankman

Title/author: Prisoner of night and fog by Anne Blankman
Originally published/ year published: April 2014 by Headline
Genre: Historical, fantasy
How I got this book: bought
Why I read this book: I read this because I just love the era of the 2nd world war and this sounded as a great book :)
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

In 1930s Munich, danger lurks behind dark corners, and secrets are buried deep within the city. But Gretchen Müller, who grew up in the national socialist party under the wing of her 'uncle dolf', has been shielded from that side of society ever since her father traded his until she meets a fearless and handsome young Jewish reporter, Daniel Cohen. Gretchen should despise Daniel, yet she can't stop herself from listening to his story: that her father, the adored Nazi matyr, was actually murdered by an unknown comrade. She also can't help the fierce attraction brewing between them, despite everything she's been taught to believe about the jews. As gretchen investigates the very people she's always considered friends, she must decide where her loyalties lie. Will she choose the safety of her former life as a Nazi darling, or will she dare to dig up the truth- even if it could get her and Daniel killed?

Review:
The blur actually says a lot about the book. So I don't need to tell a lot anymore haha. as you can read Gretchen is devided into 2 different worlds, her own at the Nazi party or the life with Daniel. It's very hard to choose. Will she ever be able to leave the party and share her life with Daniel? Or will she choose for uncle Adolf Hitler who 'loves' and 'cherishes' her forever? It's hard..
In the end she will choose what she believes in.

I have to say that the events in the book are partly written on real facts about hitler and are partly fiction as well. It's amazing how the author made a mix of the two in order to make it a very moving story.
When reading the book I was really torn into the book. I felt the characters feelings and could imagine very well how the life before the 2nd world war was.
The city the story finds itself in is Munich, also the big city where in history Hitler made his party into what it became.

In the story Hitler is very wealthy, but Grethen (his niece) , her brother and her mother aren't. Gretchen's father died and hadn't left anything for them.
As a good uncle I would have expected Hitler would have helped them out. But in the story soon already doesn't care much about his niece anymore. In my opinion it was a little to soon.

Overall, I loved the story! I just adored the characters and the city! I'm definitely going to buy book 2 in the trilogy to see how gretchen's life will be :)

I gave the book 4 out of 5 stars!

#FridayReads 23-10

Happy weekend!

It's finally friday and I have to say that I longed for the weekend. School's very busy and hectic but when it's weekend I hope to have a bit of time for myself.
Over the weekend I've picked out some books to read again.
For school, as I said last week, I need to read children's books. I picked out a normal book but also a picture book, and also will be reading YA! Hoooray!

I'll be reading the picture book: 'waiting for winter' by Sebastian Meschenmoser. The book looks so cute! The pictures in it are absolutely stunning and the story looks fun as well. It's a book about a squirrel, he looks adorable!
Then I'll also be reading 'mees kees- a naughty class' by Mirjam Oldenhave and last but not least 'life and death' by Stephanie Meyer.
I'm so excited to read this twilight gender swap. Bella will be Beau and Edward will be Edyth. HOW EXCITED IS THAT?!

which books will you be reading over the weekend?

The selection trilogy ❤️

Hi everyone!

As some of you might know, the selection trilogy are one of my all time favorite books!
I'm talking of course about 'the selection', 'the elite' and 'the one' by Keira Cass!

When I read those books a magical and girly feeling went through me! Yesss, who doesn't love a bit of princesses and romance?
(When I was little I always wanted to become a ruling princess) uhm, as you can see, that didn't quite happen, haha.

However, going back to the selection trilogy books, I wanted to share some of my favorite quotes and fanmade pictures which circulate on the internet these days .

Ah yes, when I started the books this was my first impression. Aw those feels!

This quote though! So romantic!

Sweet sweet Maxon, he really liked America!

This really is true as well :) how much I love the 2!

The time she was still unsure, how sweet he was :) she'd mean the world to him!

This is what I had exactly in mind when thinking of the characters!

And last but not least! Shame America has Maxon, because I wouldn't mind to marry him ;)

Hope you enjoyed the post!

Do you like the books as well? Or haven't you read them yet?
Looking foreward to read it down below in the comments!!

#FridayReads 16-10

Helloo,
Here I'm again! Over the weekend I'll be reading books again. Last weekend I was so busy I only finished 'Hollow city' by ransom riggs.

So this friday i'll be reading 'prisoner of night and fog' by Anne Blankman again, just because I hadn't time to finish it last week, but also will be reading a children's book for uni :)
The 2nd book i'll be reading a dutch book which hasn't been translated to english called 'mees kees op de planken' by Mirnjam Oldenhave. It's a children's book which many dutch children have read or are reading. the 1st 2 mees kees books have been made into 1 movie :) kids between 7 and 10 absolutely love them.
For uni I have to read 30 dutch childrens books this year, some might be translated, others aren't.

I'm planning on also reviewing those on my blog. Just let me know what you think of the idea!

Happy friday!
